Hortense Camp

in the Wesleyan tradition

100 Years Celebration: 1904 - 2004

Rev. Frank H. Harris

(Camp musician)

One of the highlights of each year for the family of Rev. Frank Harris Sr. was to attend Camp Meeting.  We enjoyed meeting friends who shared the Wesleyan experiences as proclaimed so fervently at the Camp Meeting.  The inspiration from those services has lingered through the years witnessing to the call to live a holy life.

Another favorite event was to eat in the dining hall where we would be greeted and hugged by the cook, Aunt Lou.  The Lewises and Harrells were always faithful and gracious hosts.

Later, while in college, I was invited to lead the singing for the camp meeting.  It was a memorable experience for me.  After becoming pastor at Liberty (Screven, GA) and Bethlehem (Jesup, GA), it was my privilege to preach at a Sunday afternoon service.

I cherish the blessings the Camp Meeting brought to my father's family and to countless others.

Enclosed is a check given in memory of Rev. and Mrs. Frank Harris, Sr. with the prayer that others will continue to be blessed by the Camp Meeting.
